(Washington, DC)—On Thursday, August 4, at 10:00 a.m., USAction Education Fund will host a conference call to discuss the release of a new poll on attitudes about Social Security privatization among voters in nine key congressional districts.

The districts are represented by Republicans who sit on the House Ways and Means Committee but have yet to take a position on Social Security privatization.

President Bush has made privatization his domestic priority, but national support for his plan has dropped steadily since he began his effort to promote it.  The USAEF poll, conducted by Strategic Consulting Group, examines public attitudes toward privatization in House districts represented by the members responsible for any changes to the current Social Security system.

The poll sampled 3,018 voters from nine districts in eight states: Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Pennsylvania.

Who: Alan Charney, USAction Education Fund
